I'm hoping we don't play Houston in the WS. I'd hate to have to flatten Pettitte and Clemens along the way.

Don't get me started on Boston fans. My post would be rejected for exceeding the maximum length.
Having spent way too much time in Fenway over the past 20 years, I can attest to the fact that Red Sox fans are the meanest baseball fans in the majors. But, what makes the situation worse is, they do not have baseball savvy. They whine and scream at their opponents, but seldom understand the nuances of the game. Yankee fans are equally difficult on opposing players, but there is a comprehension of the game that often results in applause for an opponent who makes that outstanding play. Last Saturday, the Fenway faithful said things to Rivera while he was warming in the pen that would make any member of this board blush. It was not only totally uncalled for, but it dehumanized the fan completely.

Mike Barnacle, when he wrote for the Globe, summed up the Red Sox fan's obsession, when he told Don Imus that in Boston it was not unusal to go to a Bar Mitzvah, only to hear the congregation break into a "Yankees suck" chant.

The Sox got the curse off their back. It is time to grow up. You don't hear the White Sox fans carrying on like infants, and they haven't won the Series since 1917.

Wow, I and many of those who visit NY experienced the exact opposite. I've been to both parks a dozen times and I've found the fans over at Yankee Stadium to be the most obnoxious. I've also found them to have a poor understanding of the game.
All they seem to understand are homeruns and strikeouts.
As for being mean, I will say both parks have their share of knuckleheads but only at Yankee stadium did I see someone grab a guy's hat (it was a Toronto Blue Jays hat) and set it on fire right in the isle while shouting "Yo, You gotta respect da stadium baby!" The poor guy was from Canada and was very scared. I told him not to worry and welcome to New York.

I guess it all depends what side your on.

And yet Philadelphia fans are maligned as the worst in the country.

Just because you have a little grace and a memory longer than 3 years doesn't mean you're not a fan.

No reason to be concerned with last night's loss except that we need to catch up on some sleep. The Angels now have to come to the Bronx where there aren't any of those sissy noisemakers. In October, Yankee Stadium turns into the Roach Motel: the enemy will be checking in but they won't be checking out. When the Angels hear that constant blood-curdling roar from us and feel the incredible intensity of our voices in unison, they'll crumble like stale Raisin Bran underfoot. Too bad the Sux will be history shortly, it would have been great to personally squeeze the last bit of life out of them. Message to Sux fans everywhere: no surprise with your choking performance, after all, it's October.

Actually Ive found Bosox fans to be the most knowledgable. Most Ive met know what the word sabermetrics means. Now they have been obnoxious this year after finally winning the big one, but I'd know I would be too if the Phils or Eagles won it.

The point I'm trying to make is this. You can't celebrate victory at a level of "ten" if you don't invest "ten" passion. Us diehard Yankee fans live and die with our team. When we win, we feel like we're at the top of the world. When we lose, it's the bottom of the ocean. You can't celebrate at our level if you're not willing to invest all your emotion. Fans who can easily brush off our playoff losses the last few years, are "part-time" fans.

What a disgrace. That's why Boston deserved a century of turmoil. And I'm happy to realize it looks like another such century has just begun.

Kearney Sauce, you sound just like so many of the current Yankee fans I know. Where you the one sitting next to me at the stadium I had to explain the infield fly rule to? Or where you the one that was confused by the opposing team's sacrifice bunt "Look at dat doooshebag, he don't even know how ta swing the fugin' bat right"

Hey so what are the Yankees gonna do next? Are they gonna 'bring the smackdown on the other teams baby!' Or are they gonna 'show the other teams how it's done cause we don't give up' I already know they deserve to win every year cause they have 'class and tradition' I guess you would be confident cause the Yanks 'Know how to win!"

Yeah you must think Michael Kay is the best broadcaster/announcer ever.

This is why I haven't rooted for the Yankees since 1995.

Hardly. It's more like I cut a team I call my own a little slack. Sure, it hurts when they lose, but I'm not going to say "what have you done for me lately" and start calling teams that don't win "failures" when we won in 2000 and went to the world series 2 times since. That smacks of being a spoiled and ungrateful brat, not a long time fan.

I expect my team to win every year, but I'm hardly going to act like a random radio call-in dumbass and berate the team if they don't when they're MY team and they've done me proud.

Who used the word "failure"? All I'm saying is that you can't celebrate mightily when they win if you don't hurt mightily when they lose.

I initially said "wipe the slate clean of those failures".

Then you said I "started calling teams that don't win failures".

When did I start calling those Yankee teams failures? When I used "failure", it meant the series that were lost were failures, and you morphed it into the teams that lost were failures.

Read more carefully next time.

What a bad break! We had all this great hot weather for months and now it's supposed to get colder and rain buckets for Game 3 and Game 4. Randy pitches better in hot weather, and I hate getting soaked! Where the hell is the justice?

Read more carefully? More like give you less room to try to weasel your way out next time. You were crying and whining about the failure of the last few years, not the failure of the last few post-season series, that's pretty explicitly clear right there.

Write more carefully next time.

Sissy noisemakers

How many parks hand out these things nowadays anyway? What are they officially called? One thing about us vulgar fans here in the northeast, we may be spoiled but we don't need noisemakers. Don't these fans in California and wherever else they use these things, well don't they know how to clap and cheer?

The fact that they are down 2 games to 1 is the not the major issue for me. It is the quality of the play of the Angels. The Angels just quite simply have out-played them during the last 2 games. The Yanks had the game right where they wanted it in the 6th inning, and could not hold the lead. The middle inning relief has been a problem all year, and it will kill them in the long-term. Small let them down last evening. And of course R.J. just stunk the place out.

What was supposed to be the best night of my life turned into the worst. My first Yankee playoff game ever. The game and the conditions really sucked. This was Nebraska football weather, not baseball weather. Baseball wasn't meant to be played or watched in constant drizzle like that. That's total bullshit. Randy doesn't pitch good in that kind of weather, so all you traitors who booed him last night should just shut the fuck up next time and be more loyal.

Even getting drunk after the game didn't help. I'm sitting here at work with a MAJOR hangover and what feels like a cold now and my head is throbbing like a jackhammer. This better pass fast or else I won't be able to lend much vocal support today. Good thing the boss understands. He's letting me leave early for today's game.

When I grew up in Kearney, my grandma used to make this incredible sauce. She learned the recipe from her mother in Lincoln and it always seemed to make everything right. Anytime we needed good luck with anything, we'd say "let's sprinkle some Kearney Sauce on it". It always seemed to work. So today I'm pulling out all the stops. If you happen to hear somebody today at the Stadium screaming "Kearney Sauce", you'll know who it is.

For maybe the final time this year "LET'S GO YANKEES".

In other words, if you don't think like me, you're not a fan. You're not a fan at all, you're just some piss-ass bozo who like to hop on the bandwagon. At least you had enough sense to call the randy johnson disaster, fucking little shit.

To lose another playoff game ( though thankfully not to Boston who is either home, or at the local bar watching) within two years at Yankee Stadium makes me look forward to a new stadium.....but I think this rain day will work to our advantage. My poor boys were tired... Especially Jeter.

And Arod needs a break from being hit every single day.... twice!!! URGH WTF is up with that?

P.S does anyone have any playoff tickets out there?

Just kidding slinky..really :O)
I would have made it bigger, but I have forgotten how!
