Thanks man. This match with Roma on Sunday is the one. Big big one. There will be blood in the field. Roma has some superb players too. So we will see.

Srange drama with Chelsea by the way. The coach leaving and all that.

From goal.com
"The assertion by Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon that the club's players are 100 per cent behind newly apointed manager Avram Grant is in stark contrast to reports in the media that the Chelsea dressing-room is in revolt over the departure of Jose Mourinho and his replacement by the club's erstwhile director of football."

I wonder what the truth is here. Any input guys?

Jose leaving the blues.

I think Jose is one of those managers who is very keen to manage the team on his own terms without any interference by the board, He is a great coach and his brief time at Chelsea showed that. The players loved him and respected him even though the football they played was boring at times to watch the results were there for everyone to see.
I hate that role of director of football, its really not needed and the insistence of the board and owner to play 'attractive' football was probably the reason he walked.

I wish him all the best and hope he will be back in this league again in the future, Jose has the world at his feet.

The result away at united will show a lot about how the players are feeling right now. Wouldn't be surprised to see big players go in January if they don't get the results.

Had a great day at NS, what a fantastic result for the toon, also had the juve game on the screen behind us kept an eye on that did it end 2-2?

Have to say the west ham fans were awesome, gracious in defeat and we enjoyed winding up the chelsea fans who were there for the game after ours! Lots of beer was drunk and lots of singing but I really felt it later on, maybe getting too old for a beer breakfast/lunch!!!

Newcastle won a very important one and now are back in the game. I knwo what you mean about "beer breakfast/lunch" I used to drink until morning and go to work without sleeping at all. Gonne are those times now, but marriage takes its toll too .

I think there are bad news from Owen's front. I don't know if you were following them.

Yes, Roma-Juve was one of the best games ever. Man, I hate that Totti sometimes.

Juve too is losing Iaquinta, big fracture, out until January... at least.

We should return to the predictions too.

Benaldo,

As the UG expert Premier League can you explain to me what the deal is with this Liverpool coach. Please see below as extracted from the wires...

Crouch: Rotation frustration ahead
Thu 27 Sep, 07:45 AM

Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has warned hat-trick hero Fernando Torres he will have to get used to the club's rotation policy.Torres, the club's record £24million buy from Atletico Madrid, smashed a stunning second-half treble to send Reading out of the Carling Cup at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night.
Liverpool triumphed 4-2 and although Torres was the star of the show, coach Rafael Benitez was unable to guarantee the Spain international a place in his starting line-up for the Premier League game against Wigan this weekend.
Torres was omitted from Liverpool's starting line-up for the last two league games against Portsmouth and Birmingham and both ended in goalless draws.
But Crouch, another victim of Benitez's policy, said the rotation system is something Torres will have to get used to.

I was thinking of passing by this Saturday at NS, but Newcastke plays at 7:45 AM and that is too early for me.

I may opt for Manchester United at noon or Juve-Torino on Sunday.

I am baffled by this, Benitez has a great squad and insists on rotating the players, the main reason being Liverpool are trying to win the league, FA cup, The League cup and the champions league achieve this you will probably end up playing about 80 games in a season. BUT when you have a player who is scoring goals for fun like Torres you simply play him!!! Especially when I transferred him into my fantasy football league just before the Birmingham game, typical....

I am going to NS for the early kick off but straight to work after so no beer breakfasts this week, I think the everton game is on a week later on a delayed kick off so maybe our paths will cross then!

If you pass by at noon for the Man Utd game it WILL be packed out, the Italian games will be on downstairs, have a beer for me!I like my new title by the way haha.

Going to post some predictions Friday night.

Hahahaha this is what bothered me.
Of course Torres was in one of my teams and Crouch was in another in another one and you know as much as I love Fantasy Football, I can't stay on top of the frequent changes of this guy.

As for the title is all deserved as you earned it.
I am still waiting for the inputs of a couple of Premier League fans that showed up here but are not commenting until now.

We will definitively coincide some day at NS. I will be waiting for your predictions.

Smile 100 posts...

We have made to 100 Marcinny! It looks like its up to us to keep it going, but who knows the season is still early.

Mixed results this week but I guess I will start with the toon.....I went down the pub for the very early kick off, great to see about 30 or so boys in black and white, we had a really good start and it was real end to end stuff and Oba scored a fantastic goal to get us going but the old defensive errors started to slip into the game and we were lucky to go in at half time 1-1. If it wasn't for the fantastic shay given could have been worse, great to see him back by the way, he is one of the best keepers in world football. Man city have been the real surprise this season so many changes in management and playing staff it could go either way but Sven has proven himself in club football with Lazio etc so fair play to him even if he couldn't take England anywhere....Petrov was amazing and there was nothing that could be done about Elanos free kick, sublime is the word. Deserved win City Damn that leaves a bad taste in my mouth!

I was nearly right with the Chelsea prediction and fulham should have won at end, Chelsea have some serious worries Drogba sent off and Terry injured but you know shit happens!

The game of the week was at Portsmouth with an amazing 7-4 home win, just saw the highlights what a game.

You must be pleased with Juve up to 2nd with a last minute goal, at least one of us was happy!! Milan next I think? should be good as they have had a poor start to serie A this year and they are playing in the champions league this week so that must be an advantage to Juve (they will be back in it next year)

I am looking forward to our next home game against everton next Sunday, Owen had a successful groin op this week and could even be back for this one, Just home big Sam reminds the defense how to defend, we have had the best start to a premier league campaign in six years so I am not going to complain too much! You really have to have a serious optimistic streak to support Newcastle United as I have for over 30 years. Its on at NS next Sunday at 10am...Beer..Goals..and lots of singing in now particular order...TOON TOON BLACK AND WHITE ARMY!

I was thinking about the 100th post too.
I am so glad you came on board and brought your insights on the Premier League.
Hopefully we will get others to contribute as the qualifications for the World Cup gets nearer and for the European Cup next year.
Yesterday I saw a post from a guy here at UG, who's tag is "luvsoccer". Lol.

By the way did you read or hear what Owen said about his return:

"I shall cling to the hope I can play for England but people must accept that Newcastle have to come first at the moment.
They pay my wages and I have missed far too many games since joining them to put them at the back of the queue as far as priorities go."

You got United's victory in their away match with Birmingam.
You did not get Chelsea but you did predict that they would fail to win a game that would have been in other circumstances an easy win for them.
You also right predicted the draw between Derby and Bolton and especially "Arsenal first win in 7 years at Upton Park 0-2". (It is natural for every team to fear van Persie.)
If you add here the successful prediction of Portsmouth victory (that kind of score 7-4 is impossible to predict exactly).
So overall you found most of them - another proof that you deserve the title of the UG's expert on Premier League.

NU prediction doesn't count. The brain lets the heart do the talking in that case.

Yes, M City may not be just a short story this season. Erickson has been for 15 years in Italy and is a superb coach. He also brought back England to the top of the international scene although fate was a bit against him.

nice, you got 6 out of 10 outcomes.

You could have found more of them, but you are still don't want to take M-City seriously and Liverpool is becoming unpredictable just like Newcastle (as you were describing your team once).
And Portsmouth went to win again by inertia.

Today (Tuesday) is UEFA Cup draw.

Euro 2008

Italy wins 2-0

http://www.footytube.com/category/videos/euro-2008/

Look at this website for all the goals.

Also England wins 3-0 against Estonia

Germany takes a lucky 0-0 in Ireland but it is already qualified for the Euro 2008.

Great clips in this website.

Its a good site, England were good against Estonia but the big one is in moscow against Russia, All the talk is about the pitch, its made from artificial turf.

These pitches were used back in the 80's and players got some bad injuries, I am sure they are different these days. If England win they qualify for the championship in 2008.

Italy have a tight group especially with the scots doing so well, Is your last game against scotland?

Sorry for England's loss.

And Euro without England makes no sense. (Not that has not happened before).

It's not finished but I fear it is.

The question remains. How come a team of so many world stars has not been able to excel in the last 10 years.

7 out of 10 Benaldo

Benaldo, you found 7 out of 10. Are you betting on football man? You may make some good money.

Fantastic victory of Newcastle and you got it exactly right, 3-1. Don't know how you did it this time.

The rest of your predictions are below:

15:00 Arsenal vs Bolton 3-0 home win, Bolton are shit and have not won at arsenal for ages. 2-0 Almost what you predicted.
17:15 Aston Villa vs Man Utd 0-1 Utd have won this fixture a lot over the years, Tight game. Mancha wins an extraordinary 4-1.
15:00 Man City vs Birmingham 2-1 Home win, I have to give it to city at last! Well you better! Lol, yep they really won (1-0).
15:00 Blackburn vs Reading 1-1 You missed this one 4-2.
15:00 Middlesbrough vs Chelsea I think boro might sneak in with a 1-0 win, chelsea are unsettled and have a lot of injuries to key players. Chelsea here. Go figure. 0-2 away win even in a bad period. It tells you something doesn't it.
12:45 Everton vs Liverpool 1-2 tight 202nd merseyside derby. EXACTLY RIGHT my friend.
15:00 Fulham vs Derby Fulham need to win at home 2-0 Nope 0-0
15:00 Wigan vs Portsmouth 1-2 pompey are so good right now. Absolutely win by Portsmouth. LOL. Who can stop them nowadays.

Sunday 21st October
Barclays Premier League

16:00 West Ham vs Sunderland 4-1 Come on you hammers!! They came on didn’t they. LOL

Monday 22nd October
Barclays Premier League

20:00 Newcastle vs Tottenham very open attacking game, HOME WIN 3-1 again.... Of course

Not bad, not bad my friend.

I should be...

When I was living in England we used to go to the bookies every Saturday and bet on the games, had some excellent wins we used to bet on the entire league pick 8 games win lose or draw, great fun and it paid for some great nights out hahaha!!!

Since I have been here I don't really know where to go any ideas? I could do it online but its not the same. Also you know that when you put money in the equation the results change....

I have to admit I love doing this just for fun!

Great result for the toon, had a great turn out in Nevada's for the game lots of singing and drinking, Thanks to the Newcastle Brown ale rep and the free beer!!!! (there were some very quiet spurs fans there, but they soon went home)

Next up is a delayed kick-off at 4.30 sat against reading, we should be winning these games if we want to get anywhere this season. After that its off to watch the Red sox game, gradually warming to baseball....slowly...!

I highly doubt there is an interest for soccer in this country.

And yes online betting sucks. I don't like it.

They can still do it if they win the remaining 3 games before the knockout phase. It can be done Newcastle did it a few years ago the same way, not that it mattered because we went out in the next game!

Did you see spurs got rid of martin Jol, Its typical of spurs to get rid of him hes the best manager they have had in years (despite the recent results), they really think that they are some kind of top 4 team its bullshit. Hope they get relegated.

It is the test for the City to show if they are really serious this year. They have reached too high and they are keeping on there so now it is the time to show whether they are champions material or not. Most likely not. (I do enjoy when they pull a surprise sometime and Chelsea is sometimes full of shit too.)
