But everyone knew your business when you had to order a provider through a switchboard operator or by telegraph.
Plus you had to put up with all the critical comments from the operators. For instance, "No, I don't know if Miss Kitty does rimming."

LOL. BUT....I still have a 516 area on my cell, since I got that before 631 came out. So if I add a 934, I can have 516, 631, and 934, and misconfuse myself right into oblivion!

You won't need to get a new number unless you move into the Wizard's den and want to install a 3rd line there. And even then, from the articles I've seen, the carriers still have 631 area codes available.

Just make sure to get a long string.

I have 2 lines in the house, 2 different #'s. I now have to dial the area code to call from my living room into the den. (as to why I would need to call and not just get up and walk over, that's not the point....)

Does this mean Li631 will have to change his name to Li934?

    That's why it's 10 digit dialing, not 11.

ptalover just reminded me of an announcement I forgot to make earlier.
Beginning June 18th, it became necessary to dial the 631 area code within Suffolk County. This was due to a new area code being added to the area.
So, anyone in Suffolk County must dial the area code along with the number even if they are calling from the same area code.
The new area code is 934, although very few numbers have that code, since there still are numbers available with the 631 area code that the telecommunication companies are holding.
