This is an aside, but sometimes, the other woman is there to act as a catalyst, that is to prime the pump. Back when I was an escort, I would be called, and upon arrival would be told such. Do girl-girl action, and get the juices flowing.
This was good, coz, I would have already been paid upfront, they get primed up, and after twenty minutes, they would like hogs in heat, and me, would be out from under. Unless they wanted a three some. Always made sure that there would be lot of drinking, they drank, they get sleepy, bye.

Yeah, so chide me. I am not spending any more time than I have to.
...and I suppose that is the my way of thinking. I never looked at sex in terms of recreation but as more of work. Yes, I enjoy, I enjoy working.

Hypothetical question: a guy walks into a room with two women. One is getting paid to be there, one is there because she really wants to be. What is it?

Sometimes I'm jaded, sometimes I guess I'm naive: I think sometimes I have non-commercial sex with hookers.

This all goes back to that "Does Habitually Engaging In Commercial Sex Affect Your View Of Women?" thread. (In this case, it's from the other side.)

You hear this on the boards all the time. It's a really ugly -- and inaccurate -- view of life. I feel sorry for the people who believe it.

of course sex can be and often is "giving" - so is taking a friend out to ice cream. i was saying that thorn's idea of what is being given has not generally applied in my life.

I can't agree with that. And I don't see how somone who would give BJ only "quickie" sessions could claim that it can't be like that.

That doesn't mean that it is a;ways giving, but I think it's disingenuous to claim it never is. Actually, I think if someone never had "giving" sex, they would have to be extremely self centered.

also, this idea that sex is by nature an act of "giving" something to someone else...? i just don't experience it like that. even when it is not romantic, sex is usually more like a game of tennis than a charity donation! and when it is romantic...it's like the best sweetest sweatiest tango ever. "giving" just doesn't apply.

you know, even in paid sex encounters, it still feels to me like an experience the purchaser and i create together.

i'll get around to the thread topic sooner or later. :)

the dictionary lists 'sexual intercourse' as a definition of 'commerce'. so if you want to be technical, well, sex must be commercial by definition.

the idea that all sex acts are done with the expectation of remuneration extends to all social acts...coffee with my sister, for example, or voting, or sending a friend a b-day card, or taking my godson to the doctor, or serving on jury duty, etc etc etc. since all social acts are 'commercial' in the sense that thorn is suggesting, to apply the term to sex isn't very meaningful.

    True and not.

I totally agree that there is a thing called "romantic love" and in this thing takes place the act of "love-making".

However, totally non-commercial sex would be the giving of ones body and the nature of yourself attached to it, with absolutely no thought of remuneration of any kind. Not financial, not emotional, not physical, not even spiritual.

The pure act of giving for the sake of the giving itself, and nothing more.

While this certainly exists I believe it to be in rather short supply in this day and age.

Hence Cindy's, and others, rather cynical POV.

Of course, you could do a little more work and have non-commercial sex too.
