Oz, he is to be one of the game announcers for the NFL Network, which will carry games later this season. At least he WAS as of this post 8/22. We'll have to see what happens.

The 65-year old executive blasted NFL Network announcer Bryant Gumbel for "inexcusable" remarks on HBO's Real Sports program deriding NFL Players Association executive director Gene Upshaw as Tagliabue's leashed pet and league owners as greedy, rapacious billionaires.

"I'll talk to Roger and (network president) Steve (Bornstein) about the talent at the NFL Network, at least until next Thursday."

Does the NFL employ Bryant Gumbel?

Hell.... He doesn't even cover sports for any network.

Nahhh, they'll keep him. Somehow Gumbel leads a charmed life. Jimmy the Greek on the other hand.......

Sure, why not!! His comments were way out of line. Others have been fired for saying less. The guy should have his picture next to "Pompous" in the dictionary. I guess, in Gumbel's world, because the NFL hasn't gone on strike in 20 years and has had labor peace, that somehow Upshaw was carrying Tagliabue's water.

Should the NFL terminate BG for the recent stupid remarks he made about Gene Upshaw?

    Any comments would be appreciated.
