To ANYTHING else in Newark. Lol.

Seriously, I've walked around there at all hours and never felt unsafe. Use urban common sense, of course, but It's a middle class neighborhood.

There's really only one main commercial drag in the Ironbound, Ferry St., and it's not big. Everything is kind of right there. Just walk around and you'll see restaurants and bars.

There's a lounge called XL or something like that on a sidestreet right off Ferry that caters to the the young Portuguese Eurotrash meets New Jersey guido set.

There are a number of things I'd love to do to a Brazilian woman, but that ain't one of them.

I did some club visits at the end of last year (Don Costa, New York, April, Galicia, Emigrante and Wiggles) and as previously emphasized found nothing worth continuing. I thought Emigrante was had the best pick for dancers, although not significantly better than Galecia. I think there are number of regular bars an American can pick up a Brazilian woman for marriage. I only mention it to illustrate that I do not think the Chica Bar model exist in Newark.

Have you been to Don Costa recently? I only ask because I recently met someone who worked there and was trying to sell me on the place.

There are a few on Ferry St. Mostly older Portuguese and Brazilian patrons. One of the Brazilian restaurants has a bar scene and live music, but I forget the name. Used to be a Brazilian lounge/disco on Ferry called Europa or something like that.

None of these places were anything to get really excited about.

VIGO, Spain (AFP) — Raging fires which have swept Spain's northwestern Galicia region were threatening a provincial capital Saturday, as more troops were drafted in to help fight the week-long blazes

Galicia is the one that's somewhat 'nicer' (i.e., not a hole in the wall) than the rest, no?

Galicia is a gogo bar not worth going to.

The Ironbound has great restaurants and a few mediocre gogo bars where you can get takeout, but the other nightlife options are bleak.
