Can't get anything past you.
Sounds like more than a best friend
The only thing I like about golf is my best friend's husband plays it. Gives us 4-5 uninterupted hours to do with as we will...
Wasn't always that way. Chunk of the course went away when the city took it over. That's when they choped up some holes and those three 3's in a row got made ( you should still be able to see the old aproach to what is now the 17th greeen from the right ).
try ending douglaston 2-2-2-3 and it get's a little more exciting.
As LG pointed out (and I earlier) Eisenhower is county run - I use my partner's wifes leisure pass.
LG - I live a three quarter pitching wedge from Douglaston. So when I feel like playing I just drive over and can usually get on. Still like all City courses can be frustrating to play 5+ hour rounds. Tho Sunday early is probably quicker. The only thing I hate about Douglaston is ending 3-3-3-5.
"So Allen, which is it? "
I hadn't noticed that post. Let me put it this way, if UG ever got to the point where it represented even %1 of my earnings, I'd probably die from shock. Of course it would have to break even first...
Re: OH, you're beautiful
Why, the goal is of course to create a utopia where all the whoremongers can chat with each other, share info, strike up a titillating conversation with a provider or two and generally get yer ya ya's...
Hence the name.
Seriously, it seems to me that goal of the o/o is to build a place where there's a good balance of resource and discussion. If that's the primary goal, the secondary goal -- i.e., to attract a readership, allowing you to develop advertising revenue to cover costs, build profits, will handle itself. (sales pitch: "these are the readers you want to reach.") I have not sensed a heavy ad hand or revenue bent to the admins of the board, and I'd be shocked if they aren't losin' a heap o' money on this when you factor in the value of the time it takes them.
So, their only goal can be beneficence. And maybe to get a few good tips on where to get laid...
go to the Haight......still like that.
I know what you mean. I lived in S.F. for 5 years and still miss it, ocean beach, point reyes, north beach, even the tenderloin. But most of all I miss the girls. Back when everyone read Hesse's "Siddartha" and smoked weed and dropped LSD. Nowadays, the place has become so antiseptic. The place has become a tourist haven with tour buses everywhere and yuppies lining up at espresso bars with crisp 20 dollar bills. Give me the S.F. of the olden days any time over the superficial yuppy/tourist haven that it's become.
I love the view from the Presidio. The air is great, too. God, I love SF.
LG.....we have a date in the spring.
Eisenhower is county as stated, that's why you need a Nassau leisure pass. Bethpage is STATE run.
I can get you out any Sunday morning you like at Douglaston. If you've shot in the 60's there, join the club.
That would give a new meaning to the 19th hole!!!!!! LOL
Played a round this past summer with two guys from Mass., they told us about a yearly golf outing they go to that had strippers and escorts at every hole in various states of undress. In the evening after the round they all partied and the party favors from the girls were no charge. Apparently the whole thing is underwritten by a very wealthy guy, who organizes the day, even to the extent that the course is completely closed to anyone not invited. Ever hear of this?
BTW awhile back someone on TBD was trying to organize something similar, but the ladies would be among the players and nothing would be free. Dont know if it ever happened.
clearview has a nice view of the throgsneck bridge.
i had a friend who used to hook up a guy at pebble beach with porno chicks......so i used to just walk onto that course like i owned it.
The next time you go out to California, the one course you absolutely have to play is the Presidio course. It books quickly, but they do allow you to book up to a year in advance (last I checked). It used to be a military only course, but they opened it up to the public when the Army closed the Presidio as an active base. The course is in fabulous condition, and you can beat playing with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
SC...i always thought Eisenhower was a state park?
ok...i haven't tried on LI in a few years (2 or 3)...but last tme i was at Eisenhower i needed a nassau county leisure pass to play there. i though the same thing at bethpage? i used to go as a guest with a friend who lived out there and had the pass....and guests paid an extra $10 (not that it matters).
nyc courses....i only like playing douglaston (where sb and i crossed paths about 20 yrs ago), clearview or marine park. staten island is out as are the bronx courses. kissina is a pitch and putt and forest park brings back bad memories (i grew up there). i've tried a month or two in advance to get early tee times (before 10am) on a sat or sun at those courses with no such luck. i'd love to get out to play the black at bethpage before they close it to the public (if they didn't already) due to the US open coming next year.
i've shot in the 60's at douglaston and clearview and broke 80 at the black black once. the only golf i've played in the last 5 years was pebble beach, pinehurst and the doral in miami.....so i'm a bit rusty.
My friend, who lives in the city, had no problems setting up tee times for for us on two occasions this past summer at Bethpage, but then again, it was on Fridays, and not the weekends proper.
If you should ever visit California, give me a shout and I'll show you how great it is to be able to play golf year round. Granted, playing at the Pebble Beach courses in the winter (especially the inland ones like Spyglass) gets a little difficult trying to track your ball in the afternoon fog. My Christmas vacation this week consists of 8 rounds of golf (tee times already scheduled) over 10 days on different course through Southern California.
