Mike glad to hear you won. Always love to see someone beat a casino. BTW 10X is pretty common in Vegas and some local casinos have 25X odds. Odds bets are the only good ones on a crap table and your right that is why they are not marked on the table.

I guess nobody wants to hear that I just came back from Florida and I missed the whole blizzard thing.

I saw one calculation that said betting the "pass line + 100x odds" is a 0.02% house advantage.

If they offered me one dollar betting, Id bet the odds are almost nil in their favor. Could actually make money.

With 5 times odds, you can "back up" your $20 pass line bet with $100 (that would be full odds). You are right that a rolled 5 will pay you 3 for 2 on your odds. With a $20 pass line bet with full (5x) odds backing it up, you'll win $20 for the pass line plus a cool $150 win for your odds bet.

Speaking of full odds, there are some casinos in Vegas that offer 100x odds. That's some FULL odds! i.e., minimal house advantage.

    Mike,

I'm not sure I understand this full odds vs. 5x business.

Say I bet $20 on the shooter to pass and he rolls a 5. Thats supposed to be 6 to 4 odds right. So now I put down another $20 (does it have to match your original pass bet and what do I say to the dealer as I put it down?) and he rolls again. If he rolls a 5, I will win the original $20 and also get $30 from my odds bet right? How does this change with 5x odds?

5 times odds-Taj Majhal, Claridge, I think Sands is 3-4-5, REsorts is 5 times odds. Thats where Ive played recently. I do 90% of my gaming in Taj. Call before you go down and ask for a casino host. Ask them what the odds are on the craps tables.

BMM, you and I are both craps players and play very similarly.

However, what houses are offering 5:1 on the odds bets? Most I have found is 3:1 and that was rare in AC. Mostly found those in Ct.

Please do tell, as I am making a straight line for the casinos mentioned as soon as you give me the high sign.

One of the hardest things to do is bet the "don't come" line at a busy table.

Bet only one bet, the pass line. When a number is established, ask the dealer what are the maximum odds you can take. Take the full odds. (alot of casinos offer 5 times odds.)
Just keep betting the pass line and full odds. If the table is choppy, you will hold your own. If it is cold, youre out of luck
If it gets a good roll, you will make good bucks with a small progression. Dont be afraid to ask dealer each time what are maximum odds. They will help you. If you decide to go to a 5 dollar table with 200 bucks, you should set a limit on what you will lose......40-50 % of your bankroll will have to be sacrificed in order to see if a table can do anything. Dont think you will make a fortune with a small bankroll. If you win alot, after a hot roll, walk.
You can always go back in a few hours and try again.

For the record, the best bet in any casino, is the pass line bet with full odds.(positive bettor)The casino has the least amount of advantage on this bet. But you must take full odds. The odds bet is the only bet in the casino that the house has no advantage over you. Its an even bet, thats why there is no markings for it on the felt, they dont want to advertise your best bet.
Just place your chips in back of your pass line bet. And hope for the best.

Yankin or not, I had some guy roll 50 numbers, and Im a big come bettor, so I cleaned up last night. Come, as in Come bet.

And maybe this should be in my AC thread, but at 2:30 in the morning, during the blizzard, the lobby bar was hopping at the Taj. Me, I was with friends, but what a spot for hobbyists fans.

BMM, I understand the game of craps (i.e., the rules), but don't know how to play. Can you give me a reasonably simple betting strategy that will keep me from losing my ass (or better winning some) and/or looking like an idiot.

I went into the Casbah Niteclub one night not too long ago.
I was wearing a black suit, because thats how I dressed that night, not any particular reason. Its not the appropiate dress of the younger crowd.
I went in and the crowd was way too young for me.
Some kid, yeah, some kid, asked me if I worked there because I was the oldest person in the room.

Thanx jack, I originally posted almost the identical post as you, describing the complete staff and layout of workers, but I changed my post because I thought slinky was just yanking my chain. BTW-dont forget the Pit boss watching the boxman, and his boss watching him and all the games.
