Law-enforcement sources are wrong as usual. only eight girls working for her.......i met about a dozen or so of uzo's girls back in december at a x-mas party at her apt, and there were at least another 5 or 6 that had left already and a few more that were no-shows.......

she has at least 30-50 girls working for her at various times.

    Re: from the NY Post

then, why did she spend an average of $3500 per month for each of 8 apartments? surely only 8 1000-4000/hr women didn't require 8 different apartments.

....Cops also arrested two of her employees, Snejana Bedunkevich and Elena Wagnerova.[/i]

did anyone see their pictures in the paper? their clients were paying $1000 or more an hour?

The Nigerian native ... recently put out a dance record called "2,000 Elephants" on 6 AM Records. "I'm shocked," said her producer, Michael Flume. "I never had an idea about any of this."

    i admire his candor.

Police Bust High-Tech Manhattan Prostitution Ring

    FEBRUARY 16TH, 2001

Police broke up a high-society prostitution ring on Manhattan's east side Friday.

Law enforcement officials say Arianna Uzo Egwu used a website to run a multi-million dollar call girl ring out of at least eight different Upper East Side apartments. Police say Egwu would typically charge between $1,000 and $4,000 an hour for her girls, and brought in over $2 million in the last year.

Egwu was arrested Friday along with two other women. She is charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering, and faces more than twenty years in jail if convicted of both charges.

3 Charged in Upper East Side Prostitution

    By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
A woman has been arrested and charged with running an Upper East Side prostitution ring that charged up to $4,000 an hour and was promoted on the Internet. Two of her employees were also charged, the authorities said.

The woman, Arianna Uzo Egwu, 30, was arraigned yesterday in Manhattan Criminal Court on charges of promoting prostitution and laundering money. Ms. Egwu, who has been a guest on "The Howard Stern Show," was jailed without bail.

The Manhattan district attorney, Robert M. Morgenthau, said that Ms. Egwu's prostitution business operated out of eight East Side apartments and grossed more than $2 million a year. He said she also had a Web site that featured photographs of women, some nude.

The women were ranked. The "mega" class offered supposedly recognizable models and actresses with a fee of $25,000 for a single date, Mr. Morgenthau said.

The two other women arrested were Snejana Bedunkevich, 25, and Elena Wagnerova, 26, both of Manhattan, Mr. Morgenthau said. They were charged with misdemeanor prostitution and released.

    $4,000-an-Hour Hooker Ring Is Busted

By JOHN MARZULLI and HELEN PETERSON

Cops have busted an upper East Side prostitution ring that advertised hourly rates as high as $4,000 and allegedly was run by a frequent guest of the Howard Stern show, authorities said yesterday.

Arianna Uzo Egwu promoted the pricey call-girl operation as a high-class dating service and advertised her so-called models on a Web site, according to Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik.

Prices ran from $1,000 to $4,000 an hour and could reach $32,000 for a weekend, according to Kerik.

The operation raked in $2 million a year, he said.

Egwu, who once hosted a public-access cable TV show, is part of shock jock Stern's "wack-pack" and is known as Uzo, a law enforcement source confirmed.

Egwu, 30, claims on one of her Web pages to have been called "the most beautiful woman on Earth" by the controversial radio host. Stern could not be reached for comment.

Her Glamour Roses Web site features photographs of women — whose rates were determined based on their classification as "A," "B" or "C" models.

The site advertises "Mega Models" available for $25,000 a date and boasts it is a service for the "privileged few." But it also notes that customers may make "appointments" only 30 to 60 minutes in advance.

Egwu, a Nigerian national, is charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering.

She was ordered held without bail yesterday after being arraigned.

A source said she is building a mansion in Nigeria.

The year-long police investigation was prompted by an anonymous tip about activity at Egwu's apartment at 1474 Third Ave.

Authorities said she was in charge of the day-to-day operation, including interviewing, hiring and housing the prostitutes, as well as setting up dates for clients.

Two other women, Snejana Bedunkevich and Elena Wagnerova, also were arrested Thursday and charged with prostitution.

Cops executing search warrants recovered $212,000 from Egwu's apartment, a $68,000 limo with the license plate "DECADENT" and $417,000 from bank and investment accounts, Kerik said.

Egwu is accused of using several companies, including MCO Enterprises of NY and UE International Group, as fronts to launder the money, said Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau.

He said a civil forfeiture was filed against Egwu, seeking to freeze the operation's $2 million in proceeds.

    The sex ring involved at least eight apartments on E. 83rd St., E. 82nd St., E. 77th St., E. 76th St., E. 74th St., E. 66th St., E. 51st St. and E. 25th St., officials said.

Egwu's attorney could not be reached for comment.

    COPS CRACK $2M CALL-GIRL RING

By MURRAY WEISS and DAREH GREGORIAN

A regular on the Howard Stern show was arraigned yesterday on charges she ran a $2 million-a-year escort service with $4,000-an- hour call girls out of several ritzy East Side apartments.

Investigators charge Arianna Uzo Egwu, a recording artist, public-access TV host and member of Stern's "Whack Pack," was the madam in charge of Glamour Roses, a prostitution ring that advertised on the Internet and operated out of eight Manhattan locations.

Using just the name Arianna on the Web site, Egwu boasted that she caters to "a wide array of international luminaries, diplomats, business executives and individuals" by providing them "the most exquisite women in the entire world" for $1,000 an hour - and up.

"My models have appeared in major motion pictures, television shows, print and commercial advertisements," she says on the Web site. "Many have graced the covers of fashion magazines and are booked as runway models for the world's top designers."

In addition to her lower-profile "models," Egwu also claimed she works with over "seventeen high-fashion models and television/movie actresses" who are "highly recognizable." Their rates start "at $25,000 per date, depending on the model/actress and her body of work."

The ring was based in Egwu's apartment at 84th Street and Third Avenue, and also operated out of at least seven other apartments across the East Side, including locations at East 82nd, 77th, 66th, 51st and 25th streets, Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau said.

The average rent for each love nest was $3,500 a month, officials said.

On the Web site, Egwu adds that "I have also rented apartments in luxe buildings, such as the Trump Tower," and that if any of her clients are dissatisfied with their "dates," the next one's on the house.

Law-enforcement sources said the Web site is filled with exaggerations - they believe Egwu had only eight girls working for her, not the 50 she claims on-line, and that while one of the escorts may have worked for a big-time modeling agency, none are well-known models or stars. Her client book didn't have any recognizable names, sources said.

Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik said that regardless of any hyped advertising, Egwu was highly successful: police found $212,000 in cash in her apartment and she has a $68,000 limo bearing the license plate "DECADENT." Investigators also seized $417,000 from her bank accounts, Kerik said.

Egwu, 30, was charged with promoting prostitution and money laundering, and ordered held without bail.

Cops also arrested two of her employees, Snejana Bedunkevich and Elena Wagnerova.

Detectives started investigating the ring in January 1990 after getting an anonymous tip. Numerous undercover investigators worked on the case, some posing as potential clients and others as potential employees.

One undercover cop had to strip down to her underwear for her "job interview," something Egwu told her was necessary because her workers have to be "almost perfect," a law-enforcement source said.

The undercover cop didn't get the job: Egwu told her she thought the officer could earn "only" about $500 to 600 an hour.

Another undercover cop, this one posing as a john, was greeted at the 51st Street apartment by a woman wearing only her bra and panties who told him he could get "everything" for $1,240, another source said.

"The main players in this case took an age-old trade and turned it into a sophisticated million-dollar enterprise that used the latest technologies and money-laundering schemes to net and hide their enormous profits," Kerik said, adding he expects "several additional arrests" in the case.

The commissioner also said the ring might have branches "throughout" the country. The Web site claims Egwu also has girls in California and Florida.

Egwu became a regular on Stern's show after meeting him at a book-signing party while dressed in a bikini covered by a mink. Stern called her "the most beautiful woman on the planet." She became a member of his "Whack Pack," an odd assortment of superfans.

The Nigerian native also had her own public-access TV show, "Dance Ventures with Uzo," and recently put out a dance record called "2,000 Elephants" on 6 AM Records. "I'm shocked," said her producer, Michael Flume. "I never had an idea about any of this."

He said her apartment is filled with designer furniture. "I asked her once how she afforded all that, and she said it was from investments," Flume said.

Upper East Side apartments for $3500/month -- not very "high" at all. Many studios go for that in decent buildings.

They used according to the story at least eight different apartments around the city, some as high as $3,500/month. I believe LE got a mole inside.

Since this was an outcall operation,I'd be curious how it happened. Either some girl "turned" on Uzo or LE got a mole inside, no ?
