I was speaking of the city's economy in general. To qualify, I was not a monger back then so I don't know how that world was doing during Dinkin's administration.

As far as Bloomberg....he's a business man first. And has done a stand up job for this city. Taking over at a very vulnerable time and succeeding in helping this economy turn around on the plus side. I believe most of what we see is a result of Rudy's rules concerning SCs....he just seems to be leaving these things as is. Hey, even though he's stopped public smoking....a SC is one of the few places I can still drink, smoke a cigar and wrap myself around a hot stripper....at the same time. I have very few complaints about Bloomberg.

Could Dapper Dave really be a "racist?" Why not!

    Guess he didn't like Asians!

    Ruff,

Far be it from me to give the impression that I am endorsing the regime of Dapper Dave. In fact, my view of him is that he has few peers as an incompetent mayor. As a lifetime New Yawka, I don't remember a mayor who was as incompetent. The city, indeed, was a mess, and in some ways (namely the non Wall St economy) it hasn't improved much. Dave's admininistration was a mess, and the bureaucracy ofter ceased functioning. However, the SC world was pretty good in those days. I'm sure the staff is correct about the AMPs, although because I don't use them, I wouldn't know.

The current mayor certainly favors the real estate developers, doesn't he?

    Enjoy,

The climate was also good for thieves, muggers, squeegee guys and low lifes. He brought the city into a major depression (emotionally as well as financially). The restaurant business was so bad, they started a Tuesday discount program that many restaurants signed up....15% discount on Tuesday nites....didn't do a thing to inspire business. Maybe SCs were left alone, but the vibe out there was miserable. As I'm sure many of us remember.

Nothing like sitting in a SC watching the girls shake em up and crying in your drink not sure if your company was going to stay in NY....or if you'll have the bucks to return next time.

    Geez....I'm still pissed at him.

No disagreement, Ruff. I was strictly speaking of how good the climate was for strip clubs under the regime of Dapper Dave!

I know you're kidding....at least I hope you are. "The Men's Room Attendant" was this city's biggest nightmare. His major platform was re-routing LaGuardia air traffic around the tennis stadium. What a tool. Don't get me started on that asswipe.

Guess you are right, JL. Too bad about the zoning rules. But the city could take it easier on the existing clubs. Or be more lenient on new ones opening.

It would take a lot more than the Mayor. It would require a revision to the City zoning ordinance. The whole counsel would have to vote on it. Fat fucking chance.

Maybe a the next mayor of NYC will allow more strip clubs. Bring back David Dinkins!

That was you... Sorry about that! That got me an extra 25 votes and 5 or 6 names/phone numbers of the dancers later when it quieted down.

Yea, it's Wiggles. I remember going there the summer of 94 and they had the politicians and resident members out front protesting. I joined them for an hour just for kicks waiting for my friends and was fast friends. Once my friends showed up, I got off the line and headed into the place. Those fast friends turned on me like that tiger did to roy or was it that other guy. Having a State Senator calling me vile scum was priceless. Those were the good old days before Rudy started tightening the vice.

Was at Giggles a few years ago and one of the dancers was taking pretzels shoving them in her twat and giving them to the patrons. Not exactly my cup of tea, however, her taste test worked for the other men.
