That's not really funny. I've actually never been in the same room with as many women with college degrees as I am when I'm at work. ok, maybe not PhD's. But there's no need to poke fun at the negative stereotype of our collective intelligence.

I always go to strip clubs for intellectual stimulation. Most strippers have PhD's.

She already said somewhere that she wasn't posting under her stage name.

Thorn, if you think this is the Danielle from F/Stop, I think a review of her posts will suggest to you that it isn't.

Just Looking - I think I know exactly the lady you're talking about. If I'm thinking of the right person, she's also a part-time college proffessor. I often find myself having more high-brow discussions with the women I work with than I ever did with class mates while I was in school. (and they're way more interesting as well!)

I thought that paperboy was the implied joke.

I expect to find strippers like that. There are always at least a couple (often more) at any club on any night.

One of the subtle differences of NYC.

Do you think he was up-selling himself, when in reality he is a pulp salesman?

Have you seen that commercial for the diarrhea medication where the guy is in the hot tub with two cuties and he's telling them he's in something like used newspaper sales and they are both smiling and nodding and saying "that's so interesting" ?

This one had just come from there.

My point was, I wasn't surprised at all. I expect to find strippers like that. There are always at least a couple (often more) at any club on any night.

I was more surprised at how surprised she seemed. (Of course, she could have been gaming me. Sort of the conversational equivalent of "Oh your dick is so big.")

Strippers run an across an amazing range of intellect. I've met some who are as unaware as a newel post and others, as yours, with rather astonishing interests and knowledge.

Next week, I'll be visiting Met to see the da Vinci drawings with a stripper friend.

I was chatting with a stripper last night in a mainstream club.

We talked about the current Deborah Warner/Fiona Shaw production of Medea, about our respective theories of production of Greek tragedy, about the Mary Zimmerman Metamorphosis, and about the Ovid poem that it trivializes.

She seemed much more surprised that a customer would be capable of discussing such things than I was that a stripper would.
