Yeah those poor, oppressed republicans. That's ridiculous.

I'd say that if it happened to someone who hadn't just been accused of doctor shopping it wouldn't have gone this far.

If it happened to someone on the left with the same background the same thing could have easily happened.

If it hadn't been Limbaugh none of this would ever have gone anything like this far.

If this happened to some person on the Left I'd say the same.

Limbaugh will not be charged over Viagra
By Brian Skoloff, Associated Press Writer
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Rush Limbaugh will not face charges in Palm Beach County for the bottle of Viagra found in his luggage that was prescribed in his doctor's name, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Charges could have nullified the conservative radio host's plea agreement in a "doctor shopping" case.

Limbaugh, 55, was detained for more than three hours at Palm Beach International Airport on June 26 after he returned on his private plane from a vacation in the Dominican Republic.

The state attorney's office said Dr. Steve Strumwasser's name was on the Viagra bottle, not Limbaugh's. Strumwasser, who is Limbaugh's psychiatrist, told authorities he "agreed to have his name on the label in an effort to avoid potentially embarrassing publicity for the suspect," according to a filing by the prosecutor's office.

"Thus, the medication contained in the subject pill bottle was legitimately prescribed to the suspect by his physician," the filing said.

It is generally not illegal under Florida law for a physician to prescribe medication in a third party's name if all parties are aware and the doctor documents it correctly, said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the state attorney in Palm Beach County.

However, since the doctor wrote the prescription in Miami-Dade County, the case has been forwarded to prosecutors there for review.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office had no immediate comment.

Charges in the Viagra case could have nullified a deal Limbaugh reached with prosecutors last month in which a single "doctor shopping" charge was deferred for 18 months, so long as Limbaugh does not get arrested for any reason.

Authorities had accused Limbaugh of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to get overlapping painkiller prescriptions. Limbaugh denied the charges but acknowledged he was addicted to painkillers.

The office of Limbaugh's lawyer, Roy Black, referred questions Wednesday to Limbaugh spokesman Tony Knight, who did not immediately have a comment.

The Palm Beach County state attorney's office also said it forwarded the matter to the state Department of Professional Regulation and the Department of Health to determine if the doctor breached ethics.

There was no immediate response to a call seeking comment from Strumwasser at his office. His home telephone number is not published.

We don't know how much he took with him. It could be 150

Surely, when you go out expecting to get 100 pussies, you'll prepare for 150

Of course it is--think of all the prescription samples doctors give away under NO name at all! The issue is that a doctor (i.e. a licensed prescriber) has allowed you, the patient, access to a regulated substance. The name on the prescription is really for the benefit of the pharmacy in filling it.

    That's great to know. Questions,
Did he reach this state of enlightenment after his divorce or did he always feel this way,
    and,
Does he push his fellow republicans who are in favor of imposing sexual morality to stop.

Limbaugh never pushed sexual morality and has even been heard to say lately he's getting action (without specifying how). I've personally heard him say he doesn't care who sleeps with whom.

There's a big part of conservatism that is concerned with sexual morality and so on, but Limbaugh isn't part of it and obviously neither are the conservatives on this board. Here's a news flash: conservatives have all the human failings everybody else has. What divides us are issues like defending the country, loyalty to the country, and how to run the economy.

Oh, yeah. I wish I could take a private plane to DR with 29 Viagara. I'd like it better if I had none left when I came back.

    He's not married any more.

No doubt there's people trying to find out every prescription he takes, so his doctor used his own name. I wonder if it's legal for the doctor to dispense the meds from his own office with the patient's name to 1) avoid the name conflict thing, and 2) keep the New York Times from splashing it all over Page One?

    Yes he is.
However I want security spending my tax dollars working 24/7 at the US border looking for:
    Material used to make explosives.
Materials used to make substances that can poison water supplies
Materials that may be some sort of dangerous biological agent
    Very large amounts of cash.
Checking passports and travel of guys coming from areas supportive of terrorists.

What I have a problem with is pissing away hours of agents time and resources on some totally harmless bullshit like some viagra in an improperly marked prescription container.

Throw the shit in the trash if they must and write the guy a ticket.

Rush is.... But Al Franken should be the last person to call anyone an idiot.

I don't recall Rush actually slugging anyone for having an opinion.

  15. Again, I do agree that the whole episode is pretty chickenshit but he is on probation. Al Franken's right: Rush is a big fat idiot.
  16. Is that a Cuban cigar in your pocket or are you just happy to see me, Rush???

    Correct on both.

    Yes he should have.

    Yes he does.

    Yes he is.

    However:

This is still total bull shit and as posted "harassment because of his celeb fame."

    A waste of his time.
an invasion of his privacy for no good reason.
    A waste of security's time.

This was not a bag of white powder.
    This is not controlled substances.

It's a blue pill that has very limited uses and sold in many countries w/o prescription. I assume he didn't have sevaral pounds of them to sell in the US.

I also assume that people every day put a small amount of prescription drugs (my kid has prescriptoin shampoo that when on a trip we dont take the whole container with us - just a couple of day's worth.) in smaller containers and they are not detained if found out.

Could have been worse I guess - he could have had a Cuban cigar in his pocket - I imagine they would lock him up and throw away the key if that happened.

I believe he got divorced a couple of years ago.

If this had happened to Al Franken or Michael Moore the media would be an absolute uproar. Since it happened to Rush, it's a small item.
