From what I'm told it varies. Depending on wwhether they come in w/ a warrant or bust based on an act that happned during the visit.
The phone girl is almost always busted. The cops often arbritrarily pick the working girls, who are there but not in flagrante delicto.

Johns are rarely busted, but hassled (eg give me ID.... What would your wife say if I called her) in order to gain incriminating evidence.

When an incall house gets busted, who is arrested? The owner, just the one girl, or everybody?

    on a slight tangent

Along the same lines, I wonder how feaseable would be the idea of creating a small comp that would deal with the creation of websites for independants and agencies. I know that alot of the professionals out there have some very good technical skills but others don't. What are your opinions about the need and the legal problems associated with this endeavor?

Take the ad out now. That was an idea they used on a soap opera recently. Advertise before you get the product...What a concept!

Substantial legal fees will usually take care of it

I'm not saying they don't get busted. They do. But to prove the case, it is much more difficult on the part of LE to make their case. In a house, the cops catch you when you are propositioned, if the owner is there, and they usually are.

In an agency, there has to be an investigation to prove that monies collected are not being reported, and that they are the result of illegal activities. An escort would have to be turned to prove that the owner was promoting, and then, that is always not enough.

Also, if the agency owner actually reports the income, unless the law can prove that it is income from ill-gotten gains, then what the owner is doing is "legal". And if it is proven illegal, then you are also inviting federal charges as well.

But this is just semantics, because agencies are just in it for the cash and they are not going to go to the extremes te legitamize their business practices.

Again, I'm not saying they don't get busted, but it is a much harder case to make which are about different crimes.

I'd like to emphasize that I have no firsthand knowledge, so of course what I've said should be taken with that borne in mind.

I agree. But still, agencies get busted all the time. From what I can tell, the thrust of the cases are usually tax evasion and money laundering rather than prostitution.

This seems to have deviated from the original idea. reloguru was talking about an agency of about 6 girls, and I assume he meant outcall. The past few points have been about various incall establishments which are a much easier target for LE. In an incall situation, neighbors are always suspicious of all the traffic and send the cops to check it.

An outcall agency is much harder to bust because the crime hardly ever occurs on premises. The cops will bust the girl and then get her to turn on her bosses. Extra step, but still more difficult, then catching the owner in the apartment when the girls asks for money for a blowjob.

It is much harder to bust an agency. Two different animals.

Then yes. (Might possibly be within 3 instead of 2 years -- can't promise. But I don't think so.)
